2016

I love Marie Forleo, she may not know me but she's been my buddy since day 1. I consider her a coach and confidante with whom I can go to with my deepest and darkest concerns and get a dose of kick ass truth!

She recently posted a video of a 3 step year in review exercise that I was inspired by and here's my stab at it!

1 What's one thing you did that you're proud of:

RELATIONSHIPS
I truly see relationships in a completely different light after 2016. Great relationships lay the groundwork for great business. And the cornerstones of great relationships are: reciprocity, integrity, manners, and most of all authenticity. 2015 is the year I started to create relationships as my most authentic self thus far and despite how frantic I was about "coming out" as a creative professional, I found the validation I seek in others who reflect my most cherished identity back to me and the strength to endure when people reject that part of me, in particular romantic interests or parents. I've stood strong and people are beginning to accept me for who I am, not who they want me to be.

2 What's one mistake you made and the lesson you learned:

MY LIFE'S WORK
I act quickly, think slowly, and feel deeply. That is the only way I can stay committed to completing my life's work and not get stuck in the humdrum of a daily grind. I found a greater sense of purpose, one that continues to drive me to complete my life's work. I have greater risk tolerance and therefore creative potential with this perspective. It's a radical departure from the perfectionist attitudes I had before.

3 What's one story you're willing to let go of before the New Year

OUTSIDER SYNDROME
"I don't belong" mentality as an excuse to exclude or reject others. No longer will I condemn others for being different than me or reject them completely from my life to have the satisfaction of rejecting others the same way I've been rejected. Revenge is no longer my agenda, success is my agenda and inclusivity is success for everyone, not just a few...not just me.

Intention

The Jay Bird Co. exists to provide news, connections, products, and beauty for people who seek to more clearly identify the problems facing the global community today and believe in the possibility of finding solutions that benefit many, not just a few.

If you know better, do better and don't let fear get in the way.
